History Reborn

When you come home to Factory Place, you’re coming home to the Arts District of Los Angeles reborn into some of the finest live/work spaces the city has to offer. What was originally built in 1926 to store paper stationery, is now known as 1308 and 1300 North. 1308 was transformed in 1982 into one of LA’s first artist lofts.  At the same time, 1300 became a facility for smoking fish and will be the final phase of Factory Place. And what was originally used by the DWP in the 1920s to build water meters has been reimagined into 1330 East and 1330 West, now boasting 53 state-of-the-art loft residences and community features practically unheard of when these structures were first built.

Architecture as Art

A mixture of Spanish Colonial and functionalism architectural styles, Factory Place melds post-industrial charm with urban chic. To enable the transformation of 1330 East, each building was carefully deconstructed and rebuilt with modern structures on the inside, while maintaining the original industrial framework of the outside. Additionally, by incorporating polished concrete floors, original metal factory windows, poured concrete bars and countertops, and water-blasted columns into 1308 North, the unique architectural character of this historic building was both preserved and enhanced.
